HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

How to Train Your Dragon is a colourful animated movie with an unusual hero and his extraordinary pet dragon. The story takes place in the Viking village of Berk, constantly under attack by dragons that raid homes, steal livestock, and burn everything in sight. The villagers are stubborn and proud, fighting back rather than leaving.

Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), the son of the village chief Stoick, is not your typical Viking. He cannot fight like others but wants to prove himself. To gain respect, especially from Astrid (America Ferrera), a determined girl of his age, he invents contraptions to try to defeat the most dangerous dragon ever — the mysterious Night Fury. During his experiments, he accidentally traps one, but, instead of harming it, curiosity leads him to befriend the dragon. He names it Toothless and learns how to care for it, even building a prosthetic tail so it can fly again. Their bond grows stronger during breathless flying sessions over clouds and the ocean.

Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless is eventually discovered by Astrid, who joins them in the joy of flight. Through these adventures, Hiccup uncovers the truth: the dragons serve a gargantuan dragon to protect themselves, explaining the constant attacks. When tested in front of the village, Hiccup refuses to harm dragons, choosing a pacifying approach instead. This surprises his father, leading to conflict and the revelation of Hiccup’s secret companion.

This is a delightful animated film for both kids and adults. It celebrates heroism, courage, friendship, and the bond between humans and animals. Hiccup proves that being a hero doesn’t always mean fighting; sometimes understanding and compassion can turn enemies into allies.
